Riesling is an under rated variety in the Yarra Valley. With an understanding of the variety it produces quite exotic textural aromatic wines with good natural acidity and an ability to balance slightly higher sugar levels. The addition of some old vine Gewurztraminer (planted in 1976) and a little upper Yarra Pinot Gris gives some additional complexity and interest to the wine.

The 2012 Pewsey Vale Prima Riesling exhibits a purity of style that we have seen in all vintages of this wine. Very pale in colour with green hues; the aroma has a hint of the classic Pewsey Vale Riesling characters but is most redolent of mandarin, nectarines and lychees.

A premium parcel of our Watervale Riesling has been selected from prolonged bottle maturation and museum release. Youthful characters of citrus zest and apple blossom are accompanied by subtle honey and textured mouthfeel

Fresh lemon and lime flavours lead the nose, with citrus notes flowing onto the palate carried by well structured acidity reminiscent of lemon and pineapple fruit. The wine develops into a softer finish of medium to long length with hints of stone-fruit.
